Linda Anderson

In 2004, William and I moved from Armagh to Balmedie where we received a very warm welcome.  Our four children had gone to University in Scotland – and stayed!  It is good not to be too far from our grandchildren.
I am a Justice of the Peace and I sat as a magistrate in The Northern Ireland Family and Youth Courts.  I was a member of the Board of Governors of three schools – one grammar, one secondary and one primary.  Since coming to Scotland I served for a time on the Children’s Panel.
William and I are both on the Kirk Session of Belhelvie Parish Church and we have provided a venue for a Housegroup led by our minister, Rev. Dr. Paul McKeown.  All are welcome to come to this.

Until now, I have only ever lived in cities: Armagh, Londonderry, Dublin, Birmingham, and London.  Balmedie is, of course, close to a city but what is really good about it is the warmth of the welcome and friendship Linda and I have found here – it is to us a home from home.  Whether it be in Belhelvie Parish Church, Ellon Small Bore Rifle Club, Ellon Academy or hill walking, I have found fellowship, friends and fun.
Having retired from teaching mathematics in The Royal School Armagh (founded in 1608 by a Scotsman called James VI), I, with Linda, followed our four children ‘across the water’ and set up home in Balmedie.
My belief in God, and His Son as my Saviour, has always been central in my life, so it was probably not surprising that I was involved in church youth work and The Scripture Union.
Perhaps, in some small way, I can now say thank you to our friends here by serving on the BCC.

Richard Miller

Richard Miller

I moved to Potterton with my wife five years ago, from Aberdeen and thoroughly enjoy  the peace and tranquillity of the area. I was forced into early retirement through ill health after being 25 years as an offshore technician.
As a qualified first aider with the British Red Cross , I am involved in many different events. I am an active member of Belhelvie Bowling Club, though still have a lot to learn. Since giving up work I have restored one vintage motor cycle and am in the process of doing another one which keeps me busy.
I am interested in all aspects of the community and would be pleased to hear your views on improving our area.
